Tomatoes, Carrots, Cucumbers, Oh My
July 18, 2006
The garden is really starting to flower up now. The cucumbers have produced vegetables and flowers enough for a wonderful salad and hopefully some pickles as have the bush beans. The pumpkins have flowered as have the tomatoes. The peppers are still small and now doing too much, nor are the eggplants; one of my sage plants bit the bullet but otherwise the herbs are doing well.
It’s going to be a wonderful harvest.
I found your blog through Homesteading Webloggers.
Congrats on the impending harvest. We have already begun bringing things in.
Thanks Phelan, I totally can’t wait!
We got a fierce rainstorm yesterday that flattened the potatoes again. I’m not sure if they’ll ever flower at this rate. The greenbeens, however, are doing PISSA. I’m so psyched.
Our green beans have gone crazy. We had the same problem with our potaotes last year, and they flooded out. This year we went with a raised, lazy bed and now we are in drought. Can’t win. But they have flowered, and are starting to dry out, keep your fingers crossed.
We have raised beds, two of them (there are pictures in prior posts, look through the archives). I think it’s too much hard pounding rain and not enough sun. We need to take some trees down so the garden will do better but the moola just isn’t there.
Next year.
