We got about 3 inches today. We’re way behind in our snow: we should have had a foot by now. A few weeks ago we got a dusting, but that was it until today.

Lets hope winter doesn’t last longer because of its slow start.

Plastic Up

Wolf is putting the plastic over the windows now. I can still see out mine, although not clearly. But if it cuts down on our heating costs…

He’s also going to put plastic over the front door since we lose so much heat out of it. Maybe this summer we’ll be able to replace it.

Winter Solstice is just around the corner. This year I didn’t have my usual breakdown because it was such a mild fall. I’m hoping late winter will be the same.

You know, maybe global warming isn’t so bad!

It snowed for the first time this season. We only got about 1/4 inch. It’s really really cold though. There’s a wind chill that makes it feel as if it’s below zero.

Winter has begun.

Weather and Garlic

We’ve been having unseasonably warm weather the last couple weeks. The nights are cold but the days are warm and sunny. The other night we had a fierce thunderstorm come rolling through, something usually seen in August, not December 1st.

Something dug into the bucket where I planted the garlic. There are deep holes in the straw and the soil. Damn. I’m hoping something will come up next spring, but I don’t have much hope. The onions seem fine, though.
