Slowly Returning

Slowly my connection to Mistress Moon, God Sun, Mother Earth, Father Water, and All Wind are returning. Realizing how cyclic I am, I was not worried, or panicked, by my lack of connection to The Deities of late.

Last night our town had its annual Haunted Hay Ride. I walked down and that’s when I started to feel the presence of The Deities. I could feel Mistress Moon shining her half-moon light onto me. I saw manifestation of Father Water in the stream which feeds my well (which has been dry for the last six months due to the drought we’re having). God Sun has been warm and abundant giving us a very unusual autumn this year. Even now, He is in Sky with no clouds, keeping us warm. Mother Earth has been dry but giving: I found garlic shoots growing, despite the calendar telling me it’s October (and late October at that!)

Bulb Planting

I put the crocus and tulip bulbs in front of the trailer, on the driveway side, and around the two maple trees closet to the driveway in today. Well, no tulip bulbs around the trees, just crocuses.

I didn’t keep track of what I planted where so I’ll have a nice surprise next fall. Wolf is out raking off the garden beds so we can put garlic into one of them for next season.

It’s a beautiful day out there. Warm blue sky. Gentle breeze, the leaves a myriad of colors. And me, barebreasted working in the garden. Few things make me happier.

We put 14 garlic cloves into one bed for next spring. MMmmmm, garlic.

I Was Wrong

Yesterday I said I wasn’t sure it would rain, depsite the low clouds and dampness. I was wrong. It did rain. Enough so the well stream filled back up with water and is now running appropriately.

I thought winter would be behind the clouds, but today it’s warm like it was yesterday. I even see lots of blue Sky out there. I don’t know if it’ll stay blue or if it’ll cloud over again. Either will please me as I love sunny days and we still desperately need the rain.

As I passed the Christmas trees planted along the side of the road as I walked Jaxsun this morning, their heady scent filled my nose. Such a beautiful smell, rain and fir tree. Another indication winter is on his way.

Still Warm

The weather feels more like early September than mid October: it’s still very warm out.

About a week or so ago I broke down and turned on the heat, but since shut it off and opened the doors and windows again. Today is humid and gray as if we’re going to get rain (which we still desperately need), but I don’t think water will fall.

Wolf is going to pull up the garden on Sunday, what’s left of it anyways, and plant the garlic for next year. Another season has passed.

Hats

Back in the day, women wore hats when they went out. Big hats, little hats. Hats with flowers and fruit, hats with ribbons and frills. Wide brimmed hats, no brimmed hats. Women no longer wear big hats, or hats at all, unless you consider baseball caps (which I don’t). Why did women stop wearing hats?

Kelly wrote about the hats she wears everyday. She challenged her readers to list the metaphoric hats they wear.

Not Feeling It

I have not been feeling particularly connected to Our Mother lately. This is odd because Samhain is usually the time I feel *most* connected, except maybe Imbolc.

The Ann Moura books I ordered have all come in and are now collecting dust.  I guess it’s time to get my butt in gear and try to jump start my spirituality.
