Jesse Jackson, Jr.

What the eff is going on in Illinois? I mean, really! The governor tried to *sell* Obama’s senate seat? Come on! What effing century are we in, the 19th?

Jesse Jackson, Jr. spoke to the media about his non-involvement. Please take a minute to watch him. He seems very, very sincere to me. And as you well know, I’m the consummate skeptic when it comes to politicians.

I don’t know much about Jesse Jackson, Jr. but from this mini-speech I’d say he seems like a decent representative. Can anyone verify or deny?

I’m really opposed to this kind of thing. I realize alot of states allow Governors to appoint congressmembers when there’s a vacancy, but I think there should have to be some kind of short election, so that the people can elect their representatives. In the case of death or illness, I think its fine for the Governor to appoint a *temporary* replacement until an election can be held (say 4 to 6 weeks maximum).

Oy, its just shameful paying for seats in congress. I don’t know a thing about Jesse Jackson, Jr and can’t comment on that.

I don’t know how I feel about governors appointing senators. I can see both sides: it’s way easier to appoint than to have an election. And cheaper. And, because people are so tired of the election to have another could flop badly.
